Un orto botanico è un luogo magico! In qualunque parte del mondo esso si trovi. Sono autentici musei viventi, quello dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo ospita una grandissima varietà di specie da ogni angolo della Terra. Tutte insieme vivono e convivono e accolgono anche qualcosa che vivente non è: le opere di Francesco Diluca. Queste opere, immerse in un orto botanico acquistano vita, la ricevono dalle piante intorno che, benevolmente le sovrastano, le accudiscono, le proteggono. Tenere le opere di Francesco Diluca fra quattro nude pareti equivale a soffocare le anime che le pervadono, il loro posto è fra gli alberi, nel Gymnasium, il loro tempio. Esse non sono fredde strutture metalliche antropomorfe, sono esseri umani in sintonia con le piante e ne raccontano l’indissolubile connessione.

A botanical garden is a magical place! No matter where in the world it is located. They are authentic living museums, and the one at the University of Palermo hosts a vast variety of species from every corner of the Earth. All together, they live and coexist, and they also welcome something that is not alive: the works of Francesco Diluca. These works, immersed in a botanical garden, come to life; they receive it from the surrounding plants that benevolently tower over them, care for them, and protect them. To keep Francesco Diluca’s works within four bare walls would be equivalent to suffocating the souls that pervade them; their place is among the trees, in the Gymnasium, their temple. They are not cold anthropomorphic metal structures; they are human beings in harmony with the plants, telling of their indissoluble connection.
